Sometimes, you know you need new tires. If you look at your tires and you see they are bald or have wire showing through, then you know you don't just need new tires some day, you need them NOW. However, you don't want to wait until things get to this point, because that actually puts you in a dangerous situation. So how can you know when it's time to take your car in for new tires? Here are some of the times you should do so.

You are going to need studded tires

You want to be sure you are going to be safe driving once winter approaches. Now, if you live where you are going to be dealing with rain and possibly a little bit of snow, then you probably have all-season tires that will serve your purposes just fine. However, if you are going to be driving in an area where you are going to be dealing with quite a bit of snow, then you should have studded tires put on your car. Even if you have a 4-wheel drive, it s still good to have those studded tires put on for even more safety on ice. Studded tires are ones that have small nail-like studs that come out of them. These studs help to grip the road in icy conditions. You want to have them removed right at the end of winter, so you don't wear down the studs and ruin the roadways. You can put them away and have the same ones put on next year.

You have tires you didn't purchase at the same time

If you have a mismatch of tires that show differing levels of wear, you should get new ones put on. It's important for you to have new tires put on your car that match, so they wear evenly. Not only is this better when it comes to keeping your tires in good shape longer, but it's also better for your car's alignment.

Your tires are getting low tread on them

Once the tread has worn down to a certain point, it's time to get new ones. You can see how much tread your tires have easily with a penny. You want to take a penny and put it between the tread with the president's head facing down. If part of his head remains hidden, your tires are still good tread-wise. If you can see all of his head, take your car in for tires. If you're looking for tires for sale, contact tire shops near you.
